Judy Griffith-Pierre

An artist, photographer, wife, mother, designer and teacher, Judy Griffith-Pierre's deep personal relationship with the Lord and her surroundings, draw out of her some extraordinary pieces of art work. Artist Judy Griffith-Pierre knows well the hours and effort required for an artist to paint the human body or flowers. For her, painting the human body or flowers is a labor of love, a joyful gift that she can share with others, and that is why she loves to paint. "Whenever I see something beautiful, I want to share it. One of the best ways of sharing is through my works of art. They give me a sense of connection with others that’s what I love and enjoy about painting and creating." The paintings of Judy Griffith-Pierre are a celebration of life and love. Some subjects, she says, call her to paint them. "Sometimes the artist chooses the subject, and other times, the subject chooses the artist. An artist visualizes a painting in their mind's eye. No one else knows, but the artist sees the total picture before the first brushstroke." Griffith-Pierre, a native of Barbados, first began exhibiting her art in cultural clubs, schools, churches, side walk shows and local galleries. Subsequently her work has been exhibited in Canada, USA, Europe and further afield. Animals and flowers are two of her favorite subjects that just seem to go together. Both are soft and fresh, fragile and fleeting. With seascapes that beckon, and bouquets that enchant, she shares the things she loves most: "Art is about love, and my language is sketch and paint. I want to share with other people the things that I love." Griffith-Pierre is a prolific artist with a philosophy. "To bring people from darkness to light." Griffith-Pierre is a self-taught artist, best known for the intricate skill with which she incorporates unique tie-dye creations in the design of fashion, jewelry, wall hangings, and exquisite paintings of landscapes and shoreline scenes. Over the years her art has won many awards and critical praise. Today, Judy is married to artist Pierre and together, they have three children, Nigel Jr., Jimmy and Shelley-Ann, who are also practicing artists.
